Creating a Beautiful Beach Themed Garden

By Zoe Castaneda

If you love the beach or coastal theme then think about expanding your home decor and adding it to your garden.

You don't have to own a house by the beach to feel like you are right there every day. Here are some tips on how you can make some fun outdoor coastal decorations suitable for your garden.

Make your own unique, shell garden planter with some old pots that you were going to throw away. It's not only fun but easy.

You will need some seashells, clear silicone sealant (the type used for bathtubs) and garden pots.

Think of a nice design that might look good on your planter. You can make it into anything including shapes like hearts, stars or even a sailboat.

Once you have a design you like then you can start to place your shells on the planter. You will need to pick up each shell individually and add a generous amount of the sealant to the backs of each and hold down on the pot until it holds.

Keep adding seashells until you have filled out your planter or your pattern is complete. This is a very easy way to create beautiful pots and turn an old, plastic pot into something beautiful.

If you enjoy gardening then another coastal project with seashells is to make your own plant stakes. These are often used to mark the name and date of a plant or seedlings so you can keep track of there progress.

Gather some extra shells, clear silicone sealant and long craft sticks or you can even use plastic chopsticks.

Start by adding the silicone to the back of your seashell and then place the stick (cut down to size) on the back. Allow it time to dry and then place in your pots for an elegant plant marker!
