You can find it easily by folding the fabric in four and thus you will find the center but remember that this point coincides with the center of the chart that is normally marked with arrows from top, bottom and sides.
You can now thread your needle and start cross stitching, leaving a short end of the thread protruding at the back side of the fabric and stitching over it several times. After you have stitched with one color, you can change colors as you work through the design according to the color pattern. You can pin the end of the thread to prevent it from getting loose by passing the needle under the existing threads.
