Caravan Parks In Cornwall: Cornish Havens

By Mandy Gwent

Cornwall is one of England's major tourist destinations. Many are drawn by the beaches and with three coasts, there's something for everyone. Away from the beaches, there's also much to see and do, in this westerly county. Plus, there are literally hundreds of places to stay including loads of Caravan parks in Cornwall.

Most sites welcome those camping in tents as well as caravan owners. The pitch sizes may be smaller though. Many sites have electric hook up points for every pitch and a mains supply of water is never far away.
Those without a tent or van can also stay on-site, as a lot of sites have their own accommodation. Static caravans are probably the most widely available, but many also have chalets or lodges for rent. Most types of accommodation come complete with bedrooms, bathroom, lounge and kitchen. Sometimes bed linen is provided.

On-site facilities, for use by all residents can vary from site to site. Most will have a communal block for showering and washing up, at the very least. Some also have a laundrette. There may be a restaurant and bar, where entertainment is provided in the evenings. A small shop is a common sight, selling anything from toothpaste to camping gas. Some sites have an outdoor pool and sports facilities like tennis courts.

Tariffs vary depending on the time of year. They're obviously higher in the summer, when the demand is high. Some are open year round and offer special discounted rates during the quieter months. Some also give discounts for long term stays.

All guests at the park can take advantage of on-site facilities like restaurants and bars. There's usually at least one communal toilet block with showers and sinks for doing the washing up. Other amenities may include shops selling camping equipment and a few groceries and other essentials. The more lively sites also provide evening entertainment like concerts, bingo or discos. Many have activities to keep kids amused and there may even be a swimming pool.
