Facts On The London Eye

There is a lot of things for someone who is visiting the capital of England as it is full of many varied and interesting attractions. The London Eye is just one of these many amazing British attractions that many people come to visit. Not only do tourist visit this monument but it is also popular with people who live in thee city in which it is situated.

EDF energy now owns this monument after they bought it for several million pounds under a year ago. Prior to this the most famous and high profile owner was British airways. However between them owning it and EDF energy owning it there has been a large number of owners.

It was not when it was originally designed and assembled meant to be a permanent feature on the south bank next to the Thames. It was only supposed to a be a temporary structure, originally supposed to last for five years. At the end of the five year period this was extended due to public demand.

This now famous monument was key to England's bid for the 2012 Olympics as it was features prominently in their campaign. During the Olympic games the Olympic logo will be attached to this landmark for promotional purposes. This is also part of a larger rebranding of the monument as ownership changes.

It is because this monument is so unique that it gets so many visitors annually. It generates millions if visitors and pounds ever year. It is also larger than all the other ferris wheels in mainland Europe and was at one point the biggest of it's kind in the whole world. Since then a bigger one gas been built in Japan.

When you look fir symbols of England (especially if you do not live there) you are likely to think if the the London Eye. This is because it is such an exciting novelty for everyone to witness. There are plans for it to remain for many more years.
