The feeling of loneliness that one feels with respect to another person is known as separation anxiety. It is compounded by feelings of panic when the person is not attended to immediately. In dogs, this is common, because of the way dogs get attached to the owner. This is not the only problem though. The dogs feeling of "outdoors" should be emphasized on it at an early age itself. They will then indicate their intentions to urinate or defecate by scratching on the door or pulling at your dress, in the manner of going for a walk.
Every dog must have its day! It means they should be exercised and talked to, in a manner of companionship. Dogs chew a lot of things. Your favorite fur slippers may be among the things they choose for their evening diet. Chewing is one thing which will wear out over time. You need to keep some good things around for your dog to chew on.
Raising pets will keep one happy because of a number of reasons. Primarily the presence of another being in the house, someone you could talk to and even confer with is something of a luxury. (They will not talk back!). But being an animal means, having to communicate in a manner which is different from that of the humans. Developing understanding with these pets will take time and proper training.
The dogs respond much faster (and louder) than humans by barking. Trying to put a stop to this kind of barking however needs to be done with caution. Dogs react by barking, and if you are too harsh with your reprimand, the dogs may misunderstand this and develop the wrong reactions to external stimulus. The dogs have a greater smelling capacity than humans. They use their sights only after they use their sense of smell to identify. This is because their noses are more accurate at detecting the identity of persons. They are also useful in detecting bombs and narcotics hidden in the bags of smugglers.
Dogs have a greater metabolism rate than humans and they need their exercise. Walk them daily and make sure they are allowed their freedom. This gives them the time they need to take in the air around them, to answer nature's call and to say hello to their other friends, doing the rounds as well. Remember, dogs are a descendant of foxes and wolves. Their nature call of the wild will always be with them and you should ensure that they are trained properly. The dogs have a great sense of togetherness, and this may be one of the reasons why they suffer from anxiety disorder. Usually in a pack, they will follow their leader and even takes turns baby sitting the new born in the family. Many antics of the dogs are very amusing. They play well with the children and are obedient to a fault. However, when things like chasing their own tails become too frequent, it is bound to get irksome.
Letting your dogs to walk around and fraternize with other dogs is alright. You will however need to keep a watch over them when they are in heat, or when they are having disease. Ornamental dogs need extra care and grooming. Big dogs eat a lot and need a lot of space. They also need a lot of exercise and plenty of attention when they are sick. Communicating with the pets will seem impossible if you try to achieve it overnight. However, if you space your training, to get the responses you need, over a period of time you will probably succeed. Be sure to let your pet know that it is alright to feel happy, and show it sometimes too.
