Dog Beds - Do You Need One?

By Jackie E. Merrill

We used to have a problem with our 135 pound Newfoundland dog sleeping in our bed and sometimes on the couch when we are away. After we bought him his memory foam bed, everything was resolved. This memory foam bed operates just like the ones we humans use.So, your dog gets the same benefits of support especially if you have an older dog with joint problems. We placed his bed at the foot of our bed under the ceiling fan. There were many times, when we caught him in a state of nirvana as he just lay in bed on his back with his fur floating in space.

He is one contented dog!

Since he is getting older, we make an effort that he stays physically fit and emotionally happy. We want him to live long. BooBoo, as we fondly call him, is very valuable in our lives. We spoil him with treats but not to the point that his health will be harmed. We monitor his food intake, and see to it that it's not beyond the limit and the food he eats is healthy. Even his treats are healthy. He has the propensity to drink and eat his food in mouthfuls, as do most animals. Few seconds after, his bowl is empty.

He's a water drinker and I observed that he would guzzle it down as well. Research studies indicated that swallowing food in mouthfuls can cause many problems such as acid reflux, overeating tendencies, irregular eating, obstruction of the digestive tract, gagging, queasiness and other digestive problems. Then, we found these really amazing bowls for food and water where it controls his eating and drinking tempo. I guess somebody has to invent one for us too, since we humans like to accelerate everything.

I'm uncertain if you are acquainted with the Newfoundland breed of dog. It has a very dense coat and sheds huge amount of greasy dander. These dogs exhibit a very strong propensity to rescue people from the icy waters of Newfoundland and their fur protects them from the freezing cold. Nevertheless, the prickly heat of the summer in our place can be unpleasant for him.

He sheds a lot, and his coat has a distinct odor.During the winter months he really begins to smell. His coat takes a while to get dry that is why we don't like to bathe him during winter. So we had to find an alternative for bathing. Truly, we found it. We stumbled upon an incredible brush. It is an ionized brush that uses negative charges for cleaning, removing odors, and untangling fur. Water or any chemical is unnecessary. It benefits all of us. BooBoo stays clean all the time during summer and winter, and we won't have any more problems of him smelling bad.

Yes, we do spoil our pets. However, they bless us with so much. To keep your dog in a state of good health, make certain that he/she gets ample exercise, right amount of healthy food and water, enough rest and most specially a lot of affection.
