One great way to accent your house dcor is by using tapestries. A tapestry will add charm and warmth to any dcor, even a modern dcor. These can last for many years and can be passed down as heirlooms. Nonetheless they've got to be taken care of properly for them to last long. Tapestries have been employed for hundreds of years to accentuate a home, and even for heat purposes. In the 13th century, tapestries were hand woven, today; they are created with machinery, which makes it easier for mass production.

The beauty of a tapestry is in the image it presents, the colours, the feel, and the shape. Tapestries come in several sizes and can accentuate any size wall; they are not just limited for giant spaces. To maintain that beauty lasting long, follow these easy steps to protect and maintain your tapestry.

Your tapestry should not come with lots of creases or wrinkling, but if it does, you can iron them out really scrupulously, by putting a fabric over the back of the crease and pressing delicately. Take care not to use the iron on the print side. The iron should not be too hot either.

Next, you must hang this piece away from moisture - for instance, not in a small rest room - where moisture could cause mold in the fabric. In addition, it should be hanged away from sunlight, as the sun rays will cause fading of the colours. For hanging, utilize a rod that is appropriate for the size and matches your tapestry well. Metal rods are preferable to wood since wood may attract insects. Dependent on how heavy it is, use suitable hardware, and install it in the solid part of the wall. If you have children or pets, hang away from their reach, as pets may scratch the surface and youngsters may wipe their hand on it.

Tapestries must be cleaned from time to time since they'll attract dust. If not dusted, the dust may settle and solidify making a film over it. Before you take your mud devil out and suck away the dust bunnies, the most useful way for cleaning tapestries continues to be the old world method - beating them with a tapestry tool to let the dust fall of it. This is best done outside or in a room where the dust won't fly over other items or folk. You can still vacuum it very gently, but the old technique is best, as today's vacuums have a very powerful sucking system, that might affect the fabric or threads. In addition, it should be brushed carefully with a brush that's soft, preferably made of horsehair - this is to be done every year.

If there are heavy stains on it, it should be cleaned professionally. Some dry cleaners will accomplish the job, but make sure that they're experienced in tapestry cleaning before handling your precious tapestry, particularly if you're contemplating passing it down as a legacy.

If moving, and in need to store your tapestry never fold it, as it'll crease heavily. Tapestries should be rolled for storage and never bust down.

These are simply a few simple tips to keep your tapestries looking great for many years.
