Which Baby Monitor is Right For Your Family?

By Anton Spears

Choosing a baby monitor is complicated at best these days, because of the technological innovations our society now has. If you were to look back to even just a decade ago, options for these systems were quite limited, but now there are monitors which will do nearly anything you want, except of course for changing your child's diaper! But, whether or not you are technologically inclined and want all of the latest high tech gadgets for your baby monitor, or if you simply want to find a baby monitor which is "user friendly" for your baby, all you need to do is know the right things to consider, so use these tips to help choose the right baby monitor.

What kind of frequency and channel range do you need?

Many of the budget-friendly monitors operate at 49 megahertz, so be careful about that. This is the frequency that has the most interference (which might be why the monitors are so cheap). One unusual aspect of these cheaper monitors is they pick up unwanted radio frequency signals such as cell phones and even neighboring baby monitors. But higher frequency monitors don't have those problems, plus they're easier to operate. You'll find the best overall in sound quality with less interference is 2.4 gigs.

If you are the type of person who may frequently forget to recharge the batteries, or if you want to make sure that the monitor continuously runs, you may find that a system which can last overnight. You can even find systems which have the option to be plugged into an outlet and charged overnight, so that they do not run out of battery life, while other systems may use a charging station to be recharged, and of course there is the regular self-change battery system, but it all depends on what you need, so consider the battery life carefully.

The size, strength and extensiveness of the system are all factors that need to be taken into consideration. Buyers should also be looking at price and the system's lifetime expectancy as well. Keep in mind that the type of monitor you end up choosing will depend on the needs of your entire family, so assess what each member needs the monitor to do, so that you can find the best one!
