I absolutely love my clients - I absolutely love the caregivers that work for me - and I am extremely grateful that I'm able to assist people through hard periods. It is a rewarding industry and it gives me more than I'm able to give back. At this time, fair readers, you're quite possibly proclaiming - Yes, but have you considered ... wait for it ... the REVENUE. Ok, you caught me, I'll be truthful - I provide for my family doing it too. My children isn't starving but permit me to reassure everyone - nobody is getting rich here. Why am I telling you this? Primarily because the good law makers in Sacramento (at the behest of the most significant labor unions) wish to modify the in home care giving marketplace for good. They call the proposed bills special things like The Home Care Services Act and The Domestic Workers Bill of Rights but what you see and what you get are two enormously different things.
Keep in mind that once I inform you - unless your family name is Gates, Getty, or Buffet - passage of these kinds of rules, as drafted, will force the majority of gramps and grannies out of their houses and right into a nursing home. This is truly disheartening. Passage of these laws, as written, will be bad for caregivers (especially live-in). That is infuriating. I sent a letter to my representative yesterday, and I'm showing it in this post, once you read it and feel motivated to do something, please let me know. An email, or call showing support would go a long way. If you would like more details check out the debate from a past AirTalk radio program - Click Here
Dear Assemblymember ___________-
I am a sole proprietor within your district and I completely disagree with and am against both AB889 and SB411. They are two examples of making government to big at the expense of home senior care. It is true that there can be betterment inside our industry these kind of bills will drive even more of the in-home care business "underground" and under the radar from legitimate staff based in-home care agencies such as mine. I take great satisfaction on running a business that not only provides the style of high quality treatment I would personally supply my own mother or grandma but one which provides a living salary to our employee health care providers.
If you look at just those projected costs - If AB889 and SB411 are voted into law the expense associated with private in-home care for our venerable senior citizens is going to go through the roof, basically taking away the choice of individual in-home care for practically all but the most prosperous. Without a non-government run sector choice, an increasing number of retirees will probably rely on state run services - a price which the state can not afford. In addition to that, not only will The State sustain huge costs in administering the rules, it will forfeit payroll tax earnings as more people select health care from illegitimate "underground" options.
I strongly urge you to oppose these two bills and I'm open to any inquiries you might have. We are a family owned business that was established as a result of personal experience with aging parents and grandparents. We want to continue helping other folks and carrying out our business in the most professional method we know - these two bills could make that almost impossible.
Thank you for your time.
