Timesaving Tools For Scrapbookers - Part 1

By Janette Miller

For folks who are quite new to scrap booking, I'll bet you have spent many hours trimming, drawing, gluing and preparing your pages to make the perfect creation. If you've wondered how a few people get such wonderful finishes, they've got a secret : scrapbooking tools.

My opinion is that the passionate scrappers reading this might already have most, if not all of these time-savers nevertheless , if there's one here you do not have - it's going to be worth it all the more!

So lets start with saving some time with cutting:

Corner Cutters

If you've ever tried to do the rounding on your own corners by hand, you'll understand how hard this is often to get right. If you've seen the ideal rounded corners in somebody else's scrapbook I would bet decent money that they did not do it by hand.

While there could be a selected few that may do it by hand, most individuals will utilise a tool called corner cutters/chompers/punches.

Most will let you set the dimensions of the corner you'd like rounded and then start munching away! My favourite one permits you to twist a dial to select the dimensions of the corner.

Its by far the most simple and speediest way to round any corner with precision and consistency.

You would be nuts to do it by hand from this time on!

Edging Cutters

These are a seriously popular way for scrappers to add flare and texture to their pages quickly and easily.

It works the same way as a regular hole punch. Just line it up on the edge of your paper and press down. Extremely simple, easy to repeat and its a smart way to make use of any blank spaces close to the edges of your pages.

They also come in a magnificent range of styles and decorations, bubbles, butterflies, flowers, squares, wavy lines - I have even seen book shapes, which was the perfect addition to my high school scrapbook!

In the piece below, we will be having a look at other cutting and types of punches as well as other tools that are employed by scrappers to save hours on their albums!
