In every living room besides the fireplace, the coffee table has the focus of the room. The idea of a coffee table descended from the European tea table. Most coffee table are placed the centre of the living room and the are used to hold bits and bobs, to display photos, a place to put your mug and a table for newspapers etc. They can be made from many different materials and in many different sizes, shapes, colours and so on.
The majority of coffee tables differ is size, shape and design, to suit an individuals taste and decor. Wood coffee tables seem to fit in easily in most homes as they can be a focal point or they can fade into the background, depending on the colour, size etc, whereas a glass and metal table is only really suited to a living room with a modern interior.
