Exceptional Item - Electric Lawn Edger Review

By Gavis Green

It's a slight safety concern because if the user momentarily stops to adjust the extension cord it could tip over as they are re-grasping the trigger to start again. All things considered, I love this edger and would definitely buy it again. Also, it takes little practice to feel comfortable using it. So don't get disappointed the first time. I bought an extra blade expecting to tear up at least one blade trying to get the hang of it. Not necessary, I can't imagine damaging the thick metal blade, that doesn't need sharpening. I do not like gas powered yard equipment, because gas lines dry up, and there are just so many problems with them, this is a very powerful electric item, and well worth the money. Had used a manual push type for years, broke down and got this.

My wife and I had always used a hole to edge with. Boy what a difference the edger made. I find I spend 1/2 the time with this edger doing the same work. I actually do more work now in less time since I use it for trenching the flower-bed lines now.

Really powerful edger, but it is difficult to tell where the blade will land. I have an S-Curve walk way to my house, and when I guess wrong I produce very pretty sparks. That trimmer did the job well, but I could tell that the engine could not provide the power necessary to run an edger. Needless to say, after two years of use, the trimmer completely died.

Meanwhile, the grass is growing over the walkways. I am so disappointed.

I found it a little difficult to maneuver around the curved shapes of the beds but maybe after more practice it will get better. The Edge Hog has accomplished what I hoped it would.

It makes edging a heck of a lot easier than trying to use a scrawny weed eater, especially with the crabgrass here in the Coastal Bend. I still have to give it a once over with the weed eater to tidy it up, but much easier and I use the weed eater the next week just to keep it trim before the next edging. Has more than enough power to cut through the overgrowth on my badly neglected sidewalk and driveway. Some reviewers have indicated that this does not work.

You definitely need a soft grass and absolutely no stones. I guess in my case, I just chose the wrong tool. I hit a few, and it caused no problems! We now know we will be getting more use out of this tool in the future. I used full depth and the machine performed flawlessly. I bought an extra blade with my original purchase and it is still in the package it came in.
