Yes, Teenagers Can Make Cash Without The Wheels!

By Benjamin Rowe

Today's teenagers, mistake them not, are always on a lookout for a way to make cash. With the high cost of designer clothing, NFL sports wear, music and movies, parents simply cannot afford everything that a teenager wants. Most teens know that the only way that they can get the things they want is to make cash. Unfortunately, many states have changed the driving laws to only allow drivers over the age of eighteen unlimited privileges. This makes getting cash much harder for the average teenager. Here are some ways that you can make cash as a teen when you do not have that driving freedom.

The best way for teens without a car or license to make cash is through the people in their own neighborhood. In other words, your teens' neighborhood friends. Unless one of these teens is the next Jesse James Hollywood, chances are they're trustworthy individuals. And should your teen pull a fast one on them, you as parents will be the first people they turn to - and the first people to "lay down the law" on your kids. So it probably would not hurt if your child does some "fieldwork" of his or her own, going door to door and asking what services the neighborhood people would want.

Mowing lawns, raking leaves and walking the dog has always been a good way for teens to make cash, especially when dealing with retired or elderly neighbors. Aside from gardening and dog walking, your teen could also make cash through washing cars, washing windows or doing house cleaning chores. If there are a lot of families in the neighborhood, you can even try posting flyers offering cheap after school and weekend babysitting.

Back in our time, a lot of teens could make cash through the good old fashioned paper route. Recently, though, a lot of large newspaper companies have set an eighteen-and-above age limit for their carriers. However, smaller community papers often still allow teens to run their paper routes. Whether riding a motor scooter or ordinary bicycle, whether on skateboard or on foot, you can get the job done any way you please. Yet another option would be by distributing flyers to make cash - some small companies in your location may offer this as an after-school job.

In the event none of these options work for you, teens also have the option to work for local businesses within the area. Most convenience stores require workers to be over eighteen or twenty one. However, grocery stores will hire teens as stockers and fast food joints will hire teens as cooks. You can also check out local small movie theaters for cleaning or ushering jobs. These types of jobs will give teens the ability to make the most cash. However, it all depends on your area - some areas may not even have these jobs to speak of.
