Accommodations In Israel

By Alexander Machwitz

Although it may seem that Israel has more than its proper share of hotels, stats released by the governing body have proved that the country is close to bursting with respect to availability of rooms vs the quantity of visitors.

Needles to assert, booking ahead in the height of summer and nationwide holidays is very advocated, particularly in Jersualem, Tel Aviv and Eliat. Other areas are a little less compelled so you are more likely to find somewhere at the very end. In general nonetheless , the top-end Israel vacation apartments seem to fill up fastest.

Israel has a sweeping array of accommodation types, and although five star hotels, cabins and resorts still form the great majority of accommodation options, with a rise in back-packers there are slowly appearing more hostels and budget accommodation.

One of the greatest problems facing visitors is the policy held by many hotels to have a two-night minimum stay on weekends (this often doesn't apply to hostels or campsites). It is worth taking this into account when making holiday plans. Having mentioned that, there is no public transport on Shabbat and services and attractions close early or don't open at all, so setting somewhere nice for the weekend is an excellent idea.

Hostels standards in Israel are high and most major international chains are represented. State chains also have many high-quality hostels dotted around the country, while the EU chain Leonardo has opened or taken over many hotels in the last couple of years. Additionally, spa resorts have become big business in the Holy Land, particularly along the Dead Sea, as well as "boutique hotels" found principally in Tel Aviv that mix modern art with stylish (if infrequently a little snobbish) service.

For many years hostels and decent budget accommodation were extremely limited, but in recent times an increase in the amount of foreign backpackers and budget visitors has led to countless new hostels being opened. Note that non-public hostels are full of personality, reasonably priced and pleasant.
