Sleep Apnea And Slumber Stances: Are They Interrelated?

Well, you may not believe this but our sleeping positions can tell so much about the type of individuals that we are. Do sleeping postures suggest sleep apnea? These slumber postures probably don't determine sleep apnea, but they do narrate something else.

Evidently, finicky is one who rests on the side with one knee bent. The side sleeper who lies on his or her one arm is warm.

The way they nap also narrate something about the relationship of couples: beware of the spoon position as it connotes one mate is dominant over the other; bodies that are entwined is most frequent for newly weds (those madly in love with each other!); and a breach in a relationship is expressed by sleeping far apart (maybe more distressing than sleep apnea?).

How would one recognize if he or she has sleep apnea, then? Well, sleep apnea may be forecasted by uneasy slumber, snorting, panting or choking in sleep, loud snore and excessive sweating while fast asleep, among others. Uneasiness, muddiness and/or dryness in the mouth upon awaking are other signs of sleep apnea. And sleep apnea need not be obvious in sleep only, as insomnia and abnormal daytime drowsiness are among its symptoms, too.

Now one might inquire, if one's slumbering pose is not an indication of sleep apnea, does one's slumbering position or the other induce sleep apnea? Again, the response is "no." Sleeping postures do not appear to be a cause of sleep apnea. Blockage of the air passage by surplus tissue makes one to suffer from sleep apnea. It may also be stimulated by enlarged tonsils, a remarkable tongue or a particular structure of the jaw.

Who you are and the status of your relationship are disclosed by your slumbering position. But these sleeping positions do not play a role in sleep apnea. Sleep tight!
