Many daydream of a new life in a village in Central Portugal where they would have the opportunity to relax, enjoy life and enjoy great quality locally grown produce. Lagares is one such village, where individuals deliver items such as fresh bread, meat, fish, and groceries to the doorstep. This charming and welcoming rustic area is beautifully situated close enough to the connecting routes of IP3 and IC6 leading to the rest of Portugal.

So what does this charming space have to offer you ? Well Travanca do Mondego can be accessed on foot in 10 minutes. This nearby community boasts a mini-supermarket for those goods not available for delivery to the doorstep, several cafe's that double as bars, and fine primary level facilities for children.

If you are partial to the outdoor life there are a number of leisure facilities and opportunities in the region such as horse rides, cycling, hiking and superb woodland walks. In addition you will find many different water sports nearby on the lakes created by the Aguiera dam for example fishing, sailing,boating activities, swimming or pedalos. This area has a stunning expanse of lakeside scenes. There are many restaurants available locally where you can sample some Portuguese cuisine or you could visit the Montebelo Aguiera Lake resort and spa and get spoilt with a massage or various spa treatments.

These mountains can be reached in just under 25 min's and you may wish to go to see the Montebelo golf resort. Located in between the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo mountain ranges, thecourse benefits from some of the most stunning scenery in Portugal.

The busy town, Sao Pedro de Alva is just 4 km away from Lagares. There you are able to visit banks, the postal office, health clinic, schools and yet more cafe's and bars to choose from. For more serious shopping and metropolitan facilities, the towns Mortagua, Penacova, Santa Comba Dao, and the City of Coimbra are just a half hour's drive. Coimbra is a fantastic City to visit. Of exceptional interest is its University, Universidade de Coimbra, one of the oldest Universities there is. Coimbra University was founded in 1290. Also the ancient buildings of this beautiful city are sure to charm and remain with you a long time too. Close by\Just 10 min's away is Conimbriga, where you can pay a visit to the remarkable Roman ruins which are open to visitors.

Lagares is in the central area of Portugal, within close proximity to some stunning areas, including the Serra da Estrella National Park that sits an hour's drive east. You could take a trip to a number of beaches, the closest at Figueira da Foz just 45 minutes by car.
