Great Tips to Set Up Your garden shed and Garage

By Richard Armitage

Your home may be perfectly organized, but what about your garage and shed? Do you just take your car inside, look at the clutter and then just forget about it? Are your tools in a mess? If your answer is yes, you should know that a clean and organized garage and toolshed makes finding things easier and at the same time makes it a safer place. It's not that impossible to do it either. You just need to do three things.

Throw out what you don't need

Many people throw all their junk from their house or apartment into their garage. Things keep on piling up and eventually you just can't find your car tools! If you have an apartment in New Zealand you'll be able to throw away old things in the inorganic rubbish collection, but if you don't you will have to either sell it or take it to the tip. So, first throw out everything that you don't really require. Old baby toys and clothing, folding chairs, broken chairs and cabinets, and anything that you know you won't need anymore, throw out or sell it in a garage sale and make some money.

Pick things that you need in your garage or tool shed

Most people have no idea of what they want in a garage. So, you should make a list of things that you want in the garage. But before you do that, you need to ask yourself, how many cars are you going to put in there? What are the sizes of the car? Do you also need space to store your kid's bikes in there? How much space do you have once these vehicles are parked in the garage? Do you have garden implements that you store in there?

Once you know how much space these things will take, you can pick things depending on the extra space. A work bench and stool can help you carry out repair work on your car. A garage cabinet is a very useful thing to store things such as a fire extinguisher, gasoline, chemicals, and tools.

Shelves on the walls can be used to store sports gear, garbage bags, and holiday ornaments. These are things that you want to be easily accessible although you may only need them once in a while.

A cool and dry garage

You should spend some money in maintaining the right temperature and humidity levels in the garage as well. High humidity and high and low temperatures can damage your vehicles and also lead to the growth of mold, which can enter your house and cause health problems for the residents. So, spend some money on installing an equipment that maintains ideal temperatures and keeps the humidity levels low.
