Wax Tarts or Scented Candles - Which is Better?

By Samantha Grey

The speculation rages on about the extremely popular arena of fragrant candles and home perfume products. Which product is best?

Of the many kinds of home fragrance available now, 2 are easily the most typical. Scented candles and wax tarts. But which offers more for your cash, is simpler to utilize and most critically, causes you to feel good about yourself?

Fragrant candles have been about for an especially long time. The earliest were doubtless beeswax and simply gave off the perfume of the honey that was natural to the wax.

Today, sweet-scented candles are extremely popular with a giant range of perfumes and an ever increasing number of waxes used to form them. The market is supported by many makers and re-branders offering their particular take on the aromatic candle.

The modern sweet-scented candle is mostly offered in a glass jar in a large variety of perfume options. The best ones available are heavily scented, burn simply, need little care in their use and supply that important glow, atmosphere and perfume.

The down side to sweet-smelling candles are their cost, need to trim the wick and the inexpensive and evil products out there that give off no smell, don't burn correctly and in a few cases are a total fire problem waiting to happen!

Wax tarts are a fairly new option in the home perfume market. They were born from the utilization of concentrated oils being heated in an oil burner in the hippy days of incense and oils. Wax tarts replace the mess of the oil burner and topping up the water reservoir with a straightforward disk of strongly scented wax.

No water, no mess. You just pop a tart in an oil burner, light a tea light underneath and off they go. The downside to wax tarts is that they don't last as long, are a little fiddly to remove from a burner (although you can freeze ceramic burners which removes the solid disc of wax in the reservoir) and they don't provide the ambience of a candle.

In my judgment, the comparatively inexpensive price of wax tarts, tea lights and burners sways the discussion in favor of wax tarts. They're convenient to use, widely available and offer lots of perfume for your cash. Fragrant candles do have their place, particularly as a mood setter but modern wax tarts supply a straightforward way to great home perfume the cost-effective way.
