Choosing a Baby Monitor

By Sophia Anderson

Getting the right accessories for your baby did not used to be so difficult. There were only a few different types of cribs, high chairs, playpens, baby monitors, etc. Now there are tons of choices. All parents want to choose the best products but trying to figure out exactly which items are best for you, your baby and the rest of your family can be a challenge. With so many choices, how do you know which one is the right one? There are, fortunately, ways to make these choices easier.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed, and no doubt it's stressful. It's understandable, you need to keep on eye on your baby when you're in the other room, however you just don't know which monitor is right for you. You don't know what's a fair price. When you walk into a store you see a wall of different brands and systems. It's not hard to feel frustrated or overwhelmed - but try not to worry! Keep reading for help with finding a baby monitor that you'll feel is the perfect fit for you and your baby.

As you're shopping around, you'll notice many baby monitors have an operating frequency of 49 Mhz. You'll get a lot of other radio frequency interference at 49 mhz. These models will also receive phone calls from neighbors and passing cars and even the signals from other monitors nearby! More costly monitors which are of higher quality and different frequencies won't pose these issues. However, you can side-step these problems by getting a monitor operating at 2.4 Ghz.

This might sound like a small thing, but choose a system that will let you know when its batteries are running low. You'll need to remember to return your receiver to its docking station or switch batteries because you don't want your monitor to go out during the night. It's a great time saver and will reduce worry.

There is a lot to take in when you want to purchase your baby monitor. But it all depends on how extensive you actually want your system to be and how much you want it to cost. Take the time to figure out what it is that you actually want by researching the features and pros of various baby monitoring systems, that way in the end you will be happy with your final decision.
