Choosing Your Home Alarm Systems

By Harvin Gulfill

Set your mind at ease knowing that your home can be safe from burglaries and other violence be it in the middle of the night or when you go on vacation trips. Most thieves are just searching for a fast and simple way to get cash and an unprotected house is the perfect target. It doesn't matter to whether the house you live in is large or small. Statistics state that homes without security systems are 3x more likely to experience break-ins. If your home doesn't have an alarm system yet, then you need to get one if not to protect your family.

There are many home alarm systems available. Alarm systems range from a simple alarm when a door opens to complex ones that include wireless and sound detectors. There are even security systems linked directly with the police so as to alert them to give assistance the moment the alarm goes off. Sleep better at bedtime knowing that your house, possessions and family are safe. Be worry free when you leave your house for work or vacation. Several alarms you can get are:

Glass Break Detectors. These alarms tell you when an intruder breaks glass. Frequencies ranging from less than 20 Hz. to above 20 kHz can be detected by these alarms. These are frequencies that sometimes can or cannot be heard by the ear.

Microwave Detectors. Modifications in microwave omissions happen when movement or shifts in sound frequency are obvious.

Passive Infrared Detectors. The home alarm system is the most popular and commonly used detector. The detectors work by measuring the difference in temperature of the immediate area. Changes in temperature differ when an intruder enters and this serves as the basis of the alarm. Most of these alarms are reliable and reasonably priced.

Photo-Electric Beams. This type of alarms makes use of infrared light beams that are discharged into the area that is monitored. When an opaque object -such as a body- blocks the light, this signifies that there is an anomaly in the area. Infrared beams can be either stationary or moving.

Ultrasonic Detectors. These home alarm systems work by detecting changes in sound wave frequency even those too high to be heard by human ears. Choose your alarm system wisely. It may become the difference between life and death.
