Making Your Yard Kid Proof

By Becky Zennerman

"Go in the backyard and have fun." On a scorching summer months afternoon this can be heard through the land. Dad and mom, frustrated with children wasting the excellent weather in front of the Television, think that a day in the yard will do their kids some very good. This is 100% a stellar idea. Even though this post isn't about the benefits of excellent old outdoor playing. Anyone with a lick of sense will be able to see the features of this. The issue that this article will take up is that it isn't constantly the safest environment. This article will let you know how to make it that much safer.

State No To Ponds And Water

A well kept pond is a stunning addition to the yard . It is a wonderful focal point and many hours can be spent watching the joy of the pond. Visualize what that must be like for a little one. Children can drown in just a minor bit of water. This is a horrible and scary fact but it is one that all mom and dad must bear in mind when thinking about a backyard pond or water feature. This one is obvious I realize but it really ought to be said.

Get rid of Concrete Steps And Tracks

This may sound a bit much but with other possibilities like wood chippings out there it really isn't too much to get rid off concrete pathways. The real problem with concrete in the gardens is that kids will often run about like mad, fine on grass, but not so fantastic when they fall over onto the concrete.

Stay Clear of Thorns An Nettles

Dowsing a screaming child in vinegar to ease the pain isn't fun for anyone, especially the child. The minute you see nettles cropping up get rid of them, you may have an epidemic before long. Thorns can be like razor-wire, stay clear of them. Nettles, even though not as painful as thorns are still an issue, especially if a child was to fall into it. Despite the beauty of a rose bush they really aren't a good idea if you will have kids play in the yard . The whole point of the thorns on a rose bush is protection for the flower. It makes no difference if it is the hand of an adult or that of a toddler, the point remains the same. stay clear of them.

Get a Higher Fence

Keep your kids in and folk out. Nothing more needs to be said.

Gardens are a thing of nature and although beautiful nature can be dangerous. Children do get hurt all of the time and trying to completely protect them from this will probably do more harm than superb. Stop the major issues like other adults and ponds and stay vigilant and you shouldn't have an issue. Although these tips will help it is worth bearing in mind that you will never be able to completely make your back back garden safe.
