Stun guns device are utilized by law enforcement authorities and several citizens as a means to control individuals or protect them. Designed to put out of action an assailant momentarily, an electric stun gun is not proposed to cause eternal injury. But how did the initiative for stun guns device came about in the first place?
It is said that the design for stun guns begin from the idea that covered the way for the formation of the early electric chair in the 1880s. However, as early as the mid-1700s, procedures that resemble the necessary principles of today's electric stun gun were already developed by Petrus Musschenbroek of Leiden, Netherlands. His design, the "Leyden jar," was a device that stored fixed electricity by means of sorting out differently charged ions. This plain device was capable in storing built-up electrical charge which can be released powerfully. In 1780, Luigi Galvani of the University of Bologna in Italy did some experiments with the Leyden jar. He revealed that the electric current can make the muscles in the legs of dead frogs to contract when applied straight to them. In the long run, this discovery led to the proposed of the first electric stun devices for convenient use.
When the first batteries were invented in the late 1800s, John Burton, a discoverer from Wichita, Kansas got a copyright for his invention, the "Electric Prod Pole." Electric cattle prod, it was produced to help herd cattle with no causing damage to the animals' hides.
By the 1960s, law enforcement authorities using cattle prods to suppress riots and control protesters. It may be worth bringing up that a stun glove was made-up way back in the 1930s for this reason. However, there are no records existing that would verify whether this invention was really used by the police in any authority. In 1969, a NASA researcher by the name of John "Jack" Cover would take the idea of electric prods even further. He started to build up a device that would b

In 1969, a NASA researcher by the name of John "Jack" Cover would take the idea of electric prods even further. He started to build up a device that would be recognized as the TASER. This device shoots two small dart-like electrodes propelled by compacted nitrogen charges (although a conductive wire lets the electrodes stay connected to the main unit). Over the years, the TASER would go through much development as it became the substitute non-lethal weapon of preference of law enforcers.
In the later part of the 1970s, new propose of what we would be recognized as electric stun gun were promoted to the general public for the first time. The device was launched as a self-defense device that can be used to hold back assailant and other physical invaders. Recently, electric stun guns are offered in different styles and forms. Even though several places prohibit or legalize its use, stun guns devices keep on gaining popularity, as citizens distinguish the need of possessing self-defense devices for their own protection.
