Some examples of great group fundraising options

By James Whistle

You may find that your day care centre, school or sports team is short on the money required for special equipment, travel or trips. Don't worry, you don't need to go without - all you need to do is arrange a group fundraising event; they're a fun and easy way to raise the money you need!

A Fundraising Raffle: Just ask local businesses for donations of food products, beauty products, books or toys - then add them to your raffle. Once you have a nice raffle prize put together, sell your raffle tickets at the price that works for you. Stationery stores often stock raffle tickets, and the winning number can be chosen at random using a scientific calculator, or the old fashioned way, out of a hat! Sell as many tickets as possible, so you can raise the money you need.

School Fair: A school fair is a fun event for families to attend. You can get parents involved in setting up various stalls for baked goods, second hand items, or games. People are often happy to volunteer their help and get involved. Get people from the local community to attend and charge everyone an entry fare, and you'll easily raise the money you need.

School Carnival: School carnivals are a fun day for families to attend. People are often happy to volunteer their help and get involved. You can easily get parents to set up various stalls for baked goods, second hand items, or games. Get people from the local community to attend and pay for tickets so you can raise plenty of money.

Items for Sale: There are plenty of different things you could sell to raise money. It just depends on what kind of organisation you are trying to raise money for. Sports teams could sell signed jerseys or photographs, and a day care centre of school could hold a bake sale, art auction for the children's work, or put together the art works from the school into a Calendar or tea towel. Parents will be happy to purchase items which support the school and make good keepsakes.

Group Photography: Any school or organisation will be interested in having group or individual portraits taken of children and their families. Some photography companies can arrange to come to your school and take the photos, and give you a percentage of all money raised from the sales. It's a fun fundraising option, and you'll be sure to have many interested participants!

There are so many options available, you just need to think creatively! Get as many people on board as possible, and you'll be sure to find many people are happy to contribute money towards your school, day care centre or sports team. Choose a great fundraising option, and you'll have the money you need in no time!
