By trianing your dog to sit, it will help keep them out of trouble and from being a nusiance. This is one of the free basic dog training tips that you must have your dog obey, because your dog knowing this command will help them when they are learning more advanced commands.

This process will also prove be an excellent way for you to bond with your pet, as they learn a command from the free basic dog training tips that they will do naturally on their own. As you are training your dog to sit, it will be important that you understand that your dog is very willing to learn. Sometimes, the learning takes longer than we like and you will need to be sure that you are being patient and compassionate.

A treat is a great way to reward your dog when they have done what you have asked when training you dog to sit. Please never hit your dog when you are training them.

When you first are training your dog to sit by giving them the verbal command "sit" and rewarding them with a treat after they have completed the task, realize that they do not still know this command. Start out by having your dog go through their own motions naturally, and when they sit, say the command "sit" command and give them a treat. Then give them the command before they are sitting to see if they understand your intentions.

After a few times of saying the "sit" command when they have sat on their own, then it is time to take it one step further. This means they should start to sit when you want them to sit. A good way to start this part of the free basic training tips is to carry a treat over his head and walk around so they can see it. Pull the treat closer to yourself and isue the "sit" command. When they sit down then reward them with the treat.

Some dogs will simply backup in this process and you might need to work a little with your dog to master this. Keep in mind that during the training it is essential that you reward them at the moment your dog sits. Doing it before or waiting too long afterwards will not secure the understanding in their mind.

To really teach them to sit it is important to keep training your dog to sit multiple times a day, so they begin to understand the command. A couple of times will not teach your dog the command, yet you should do it for no more than five minutes at any one time, multiples times a day.
