Before You Book Your First Cruise Holiday

By Greg Thomson

Each year more people than ever choose to go on a cruise holiday. Whether it is couples or families the cruise firms are planning more and bigger ships to cope with the projected requirements.

If you have never been on a cruise before it is important to make sure that you select the right cruise liner and route for you. Your enjoyment of your cruise holiday could depend on a number of factors and if you do not get these correct you may not enjoy your first cruise experience as you could.

For someone with no interest in culture or history there would not be any point in going on a cruise to see the Baltic capitol cities in Europe. If you want better weather with some intriguing stops then a cruise around the Mediterranean could be more suitable. If you are looking for good weather a Caribbean cruise may be the right choice. When selecting a Caribbean cruise make sure you think about the possibility of bad storms that could affect your cruise.

The standard of ship could also be a very important choice for anybody going on their first cruise. If your idea of a nightmare is getting dressed up each night for a dinner party then you must make sure the cruise you select has a flexible dinning policy. This also applies if you enjoy getting dressed up for your evening meal. You could end up on a cruise where the dress code is very down to earth and you would look out of place in a dinner suit or party frock.

If you are travelling with children make sure the vessel you pick is child friendly and has a kids club. Virtually all of the newer cruise liners have separate kids pools, clubs for children of different ages and in some cases a special dinning area as well. If the kids are enjoying them selves the grownups can relax and be happy as well.

When looking for the right cruise vacation make sure you do a little research first so that you enjoy your very first vacation on a ship as you should.
