Parent and Child Bonding in the Mediterranean from Mallorca Hotels

By Steve Alexander

Leave the luxury of your Mallorca hotels behind for the day and enjoy some Mediterranean style parent and child bonding with our top activity suggestions. After all, holidays are the perfect time to enjoy some much-needed fun with the kids.

With so many cultural hotspots, you'll find plenty to keep you and your son or daughter entertained in Mallorca. From historic monasteries and gothic churches to traditional towns, this small island isn't short on inspiration.

The country's most sacred and impressive site is the historic Lluc Monastery in the north west of Mallorca and is perhaps the most famous of them all. The sacred La Moreneta is located here, as well as the botanical gardens and you'll be able to witness the daily concerts too.

Why not escape the luxury of your Alcudia hotels for an afternoon by exploring the Old Town if you both prefer something a little closer to home. 14th century towers and walls surround this labyrinth of fascinating streets, cafes and boutiques, located in the northern part of Alcudia.

A day of thrills and spills at one of Mallorca's many water or theme parks is a great alternative for the kids if the sightseeing gets a little too much. Leave your Magaluf hotels behind for the day and enjoy the vertigo-inducing slides at the Aqualand and the Wild West-themed Western Park.

As the only place to go in order to witness dolphins and sea lions perform in the Balearic Islands, Marineland is one of the most popular attractions in Mallorca. An impressive collection of sharks, crocodiles and reptiles also await here. You can really impress the kids by braving the shark tank at the Palma Aquarium, which also offers a multitude of fish tanks, feeding opportunities and a huge roof garden and play area.

Why not hit the shops in fashionable Palma for the ultimate girl's day out for you and your daughter. Even the most committed shopaholics will find something to keep them entertained, with a selection of up-market boutiques at Passeig des Born, as well as the Centro Comercial Porto Pi shopping mall just outside of the centre.
