Single Parents And Home Security

By Ori Rosenkrantz

Anyone who raises children alone knows how hard it can be to bring to them up. It means that you have plenty of work to do, but no partner to help you. Since so many parents are overwhelmed with duties, it seems that they do not take crucial steps towards providing their own security. Actually, they use various excuses, such as not having enough time so as to justify their irresponsible behavior for not taking home security measures.
However, it is not a good idea to speak openly about the fact that you live alone without a man in the house. Probably this may sound stereotypical, but many intruders will break into houses which do not have a man to confront them. And there is so much truth in this belief no matter how strong or able to protect yourself you are. It is because burglars think that women are weak, and that without a man in the home you will not be able to fight off the attack. Therefore, you are advised to have only your last name written on the mailbox, and to make sure to record a voicemail message that doesn't allude to the fact that only you and the kids live in the house.

In order to provide safety to your kids you need to be very conscious of how being a single parent affects your kids' security. Are you still at work when your children get back from school? Most burglars will check first if you have left the key under the mat or above the doorframe, so don't leave it there. Talk to your children and tell them what they need to do in case of an emergency. It means that you have to instill the confidence in them so as to handle the home when you are not there. Talk to your children and tell them what they need to do in case of an emergency. It means that you have to instill the confidence in them so as to handle the home when you are not there. Due to that it is a good thing to get a nanny cam or to consider some other kind of surveillance. Also, you can even use cameras which enable you to watch your kids online while you are working in the office.

Also, you should be very careful if you have started to date someone recently. It means that you must get to know your new date better before you decide to bring him to your place. According to that, you can choose some neutral place to meet. Introduce him to your home and kids steadily, and avoid giving him the key to your home until it turns into a long-term relationship. Yet, if you break up your relationship in an unpleasant way, it is highly recommended to change the lock on your front door and to add new alarm system to your door and window. Do anything necessary in order to keep your family protected.

Being a single parent is usually followed by stress as it automatically includes that you are the only person who is in charge of everything in the home, from cooking meals to helping your kids with homework and tucking them into bed at night. Yet, if you are a single parent, keep in mind that it is not good to speak very openly about that, and make sure to protect you and your kids with home alarms and home security systems.
