Areas To Consider If Renovating Your Bathroom

By Asher Albiach

I am sure you know, especially if you have a large number of people living with you, that the bathroom is the most popular room in your house. On average, many people spend up to an hour in the bathroom every single day. And in case you have a great deal of people in your home you already know that there always seems to be someone in the bathroom. The crazy thing is that for a room that gets more use than just about any other room in your home it is also normally the smallest room in your home. But before you decide to remodel your bathroom we will cover a few things you may want to keep in mind.
To start with, you should think about adding a shower stall instead of a bathtub. Most people never take a bath in a bathtub just about every single day. Obviously when you have younger kids in the home this might not be an option. But if the majority of people in your home are 12 years old or older this is a good option. With the addition of a shower stall as opposed to a bathtub, you will increase the amount of room to your bathroom. And if you have a small bathroom to begin with, you will enjoy the added space.

If you are planning to replace the basin in your bathroom, choose one in lighter colors. Dark colored basins aren't a good idea because water spots, hard water stains and soap scum really shows. This can of course can lead to you cleaning your sink multiple times a day. So when you are considering the color of your new sink, ensure that it stays light.

If you want to bring color to the bathroom by adding colored fixtures, be sure that you actually have the fixtures before you start to remodel. Buying fixtures in various colors can be time consuming and usually will need to be ordered. Of course if you're not too choosy, stick with white or off white colors for your fixtures. You probably should not have any hassle finding standard white or off-white fixtures in your hometown home improvement store. This is also good in the event you end up having to replace them later on.

If you have tile to your shower stall, it may be necessary to wait a couple of days until the tile is stuck tight to the ground. Even though your bathroom may take a week to finish, you will probably still need to hang

Even though your bathroom may take a week to finish, you will probably still need to hang on a few more days for the tile to dry. Also, a standard stall is a lot simpler to install than one that requires tiles.

One thing you will need to plan for in the event you only have one bathroom, is that you will need to have a friend or neighbor nearby that will let you use their bathroom until the renovations have been completed.
