Having it large in Cyprus

By Mehmet Turan

As well as being known for its beautiful beaches and historical towns, the large Mediterranean island of Cyprus is perhaps best known for its clubbing scene. Located just south of Turkey and to the east of Greece, Cyprus sees average summer temperatures soar up to between 28-32˚C, making this island ideal for those seeking that perfect summer holiday.

One of the island's and the world's most famous clubbing resorts is of course Ayia Napa. Situated on the eastern side of the Cypriot coast, this resort has come a long way from its religious roots (Ayia Napa translated means 'holy wooded valley'). Today the coastal resort offers holiday makers a range of touristy bars and nightclubs all of which are interestingly themed to stand out next to their competitors, the majority of which are located in the central square.

Clubbing holidays to Ayia Napa are incredibly popular, with perhaps the most notorious clubbing package provider being Club 18-30. Aimed at young party animals, these kinds of clubbing package holidays in Cyprus are designed to have people partying by night and recovering by day, with maybe a few exhilarating water-sports and chilled sun-bathing beach sessions thrown in.

Another clubbing destination in Cyprus worthy of a mention is Paphos located on the south west coast of the island. In recent years, Paphos has grown and now rivals Ayia Napa. Offering a wide range of bars and a good selection of first-rate nightclubs, in Paphos visitors can experience a range of music styles from R 'n' B and Grime, to Cheese and even the latest Greek hits.

Just like Ibiza and Magaluf, clubbing holidays in Cyprus are all about letting loose and dancing the night away with friends, old and new. From hard-core nightclubs to carnival-atmosphere festivals, Cyprus is proud to host a range of International DJs and MCs. With a laid-back atmosphere, the only difficult decision to make on a clubbing holiday is choosing which clubs to hit first.
