How to Clean Puppy Ear Wax Effectively

By Dirk Gruenberg

The best way to ensure that our puppies stay healthy is to make their hygiene a priority. This includes brushing their teeth regularly, bathing them occasionally, and cleaning their ears.

Cleaning a puppy's ear maybe difficult during the first few times but it can be handled by anyone. You have to remember that your puppy is currently brewing a huge amount of energy.

They want to play all the time and it can be risky to clean their ears in this attitude. You also have to show them that grooming should not be feared to avoid any hassles in the future.

So, here we go: it is essential that you stay as calm as possible throughout the whole process. This will make your dog feel much calmer too.

To make life easier for you, go to a quiet place in the house. Once you are both settled, give your puppy a treat. It is important that you have a high quality cleaning solution - ideally, it should be recommended by a vet.

Get some cotton balls and put a fair amount of solution in it. You'll then need to clean the outer ear first and removing as much dirt as you can. Be gentle when you do this so that your puppy won't resist the cleaning.

As soon as the outer ear is clean, you can start moving to the inner ear. This is where you have to be careful. Make sure that you don't go too deep in your dog's ear canal.

If you stay calm and clean the ears gently, you will avoid injuries wherever possible. Of course, once you are done, it is important to praise your dog - give him a treat or play with him afterwards.

This will help establish that ear-cleaning is a fun process. This will allow you to clean your puppy's ear without having to chase him or her around the house.
