Don't Stage Your Home to Sell- Stage it to Live

By Amanda Salt

Staging your private home to sell on the real estate market is the most essential bit of the home selling puzzle, but why not apply the same techniques to living in your place? Living in a home which is as presentable as the cover of a publication is absolutely heavenly. Envision coming home and getting so happy to be at your house that you simply do not want to leave- there exists simply not a more rewarding feeling. After a long day, retire to your master bedroom in all its hotel spender! Make a splurge on heavy bedding and high-end fabrics for your bed linen, and by all means toss that old comforter you have been using even though it does not bother you any more. Consider how nice it could feel to come home and appreciate your home, are proud of the excellent things that are there not just for your family and friends, but even more important for you!

Don't forget your bathrooms, this is often an place that is missed. Talking about linens, take into account your towels in your bathrooms, are they old? Do they have holes in them? Swap bathroom towels with high quality towels and for the maximum of variety go for traditional white. White colored will coordinate in your bathrooms and it is easy to change up components to modify the appearance of the bathroom, but since you are spending your dollars luxury quality linens, you might as well make them last as long as they possibly can.

The fact is many people get complacent in their home, they just deal with clutter and disorganization and is some cases dirtiness. Being a Calgary Realtor, I often walk into homes while individuals are "living" in them and genuinely are often amazed at how people live in their houses. Your house is meant to be one of your all time most significant purchases, yet many don't seem to respect or nurture their houses.

There is also the do-it-yourself people. Recently I showed a property that looked incredible in the pictures, however when we actually looked at it in person the renovations were so beginner. It became so evident that they did their own floor tile work, laid their own new carpet and my own favourite, they changed the kitchen cabinet drawer pulls to handles and didn't even bother to match the cupboard paint colour to fill the holes left behind. Oh then there is the fact that the cabinet hardware was even installed crooked. In some cases people it is just far better hire an expert yes is does will be more expensive, but there's a good reason it does! All the smoke and mirrors starts to make you question the issues which you cannot observe like plumbing related or electrical.

Take inventory on your home and if you are not 100% happy with the present condition make the changes you need. Your house is your own largest financial commitment and let' s admit it you would spend lots of time in it, you should enjoy it and be very proud of it! It really should be a place you are proud to call home.
