Travel Guide To Sapa

Sapa is situated in Lao Cai province, 350 km from Hanoi, near to the border with China. It is considered one of the must see places for Vietnam holidays. The Hoang Lien Son range of mountains dominates the district, which is at the eastern extremity of the Himalayas. This range includes Vietnam's highest peak, Fansipan, at a high of 3142m above sea level and a vast area covered by thick forest, rich in wildlife.

How to get there

Take a train from Hanoi to Lao Cai. Many minubuses are waiting at the train station for Sapa. They are offering the service with 25-50,000D but local price is 25,000D but the bus always moves around the station to catch up customer for full seats before leaving for Sapa. Bargain hard and kepping on bus.

Attractions

Trek Fansipan: Mt. Fansipan, elevation 3,143m, is the highest peak of Indochina. After 3-day conquering Fansipan peak, you are amongst just nearly 1,000 people all around the world leaving their footprints here.

Cat Cat Village: Cat Cat Village is about 1 km from Sapa town. It's located at the bottom of the Muong Hoa Valley and near the stunning Cat Cat Waterfall. This is an age-old village of H'Mong ethnic group which still keeps unique customs and practices that are lost in other villages.

Where to stay

Topas Ecolodge: Topas Ecolodge is located 18 km from Sapa, deep in the Hoang Lien Mountains. The 25 bungalows overlook the entire valley with the ethnic minority villages of Ban Ho and Thanh Phu, 400 altitude meters below you.

Lotus Hotel Occupying a strategic corner in the centre of town, this place is enticingly good value. The members of staff are very friendly, the rooms are pretty spacious and many include balconies with views across to the valley. All rooms have hot water, TV and a fireplace.
