The Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet In Review

By William Cassel

When the iPad made its debut, a lot of people said, "Whatever, I've got a laptop for that." Very rapidly, however, the capabilities of the iPad became more obvious. It wasn't long before all the major suppliers of mobiles and computers wanted in on on the fast-growing action. Tablets began appearing all over the place. Naturally, Dell is attempting to obtain its piece of the pie. That is why they created the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi Tablet. In this article, we will take a closer look at this Dell Tablet and whether or not it is worth your money.

It's a good device for movies with a similar system to watch movies for ipad. Alas, the most evident negative for this product is Dell itself. Dell isn't actually recognized for producing good and reliable products. This computer manufacturer's customer service track record is also on sort of shaky ground. After your product warranty runs out, you can expect to be billed for customer service calls to Dell - at least that is what many Dell customers claim. You'll discover that perhaps the upfront cost of this tablet is more inexpensive than most, you must factor in the long-term cost of the company you're dealing with.

Multitasking is made easy by the tablet's OS, an Android OS version nicknamed "Froyo." You should be able to listen to Mp3s, keep your GPS data up-to-date, and be given notice of various things through the system's notification service without being pressured to keep any specific application open and running. Friends and business contacts will constantly be able to get hold of you on your Streak 7 tablet because it lets you access your email accounts, including Gmail, very easily.

Video chat was not present in the initial iPad offering, and it's terrific that it is with this Dell tablet. This Dell tablet, using Qik software and a front-facing panel camera, offers video chat. The trouble is , though, that you won't be able to communicate with people who don't use the same Dell tablet, or something compatible. So video chatting with those using other platforms is not ensured. Another great thing is that the tablet comes built in with Blockbuster's On Demand service. Admittedly, though, Blockbuster's recent troubles have made us think twice about recommending the tablet.

Reviews right now are only a handful, but it does appear that people are wary as to the reasons why this product was developed. The tablet's functionality is severely limited through its inability to interact with other devices that aren't compatible with Streak 7. Nevertheless, if you are desperate for a tablet computer and you don budget, this Dell tablet might be a great way to get used to the technology and figure out if tablets really are for you. Before you part with your hard-earned money, though, take care and ensure that you understand what you're putting your money on.
