The Museo de Colon is also situated in Las Palmas and is a piece of art in itself. The building is a fantastic piece of architecture with balcony patios, fountains and it only gets even better once inside. Once inside it is split into four sections and combines both the history of the island and also art as well. The museum shows how the island was a staging post for shipping across the Atlantic and there is also a model of the ship the Galleon.

Gran Canaria is well-known around Europe for the many artists who live there. For such a small island it is quite amazing the amount of art which is exhibited in the many galleries. This diversity is what attracts many to the island. Not only is it an amazing holiday destination but it also has a great deal of culture for people who like to explore a little and appreciate art and history.
