Baby Monitors - The Bottom Line When Choosing

By Ali Garcia

Getting the right accessories for your baby did not used to be so difficult. There were only a limited number of possibilities when it came time to buy a crib, high chair or baby monitor. Today, however, the number of choices is vast. All parents want to choose the best products but trying to figure out exactly which items are best for you, your baby and the rest of your family can be a challenge. There are simply so many possible choices, how do you know you are making the best one? Before you put too much pressure on yourself, here are some things you can do to make the whole process better.

What kind of frequency and channel range do you need?

Just in case you don't think of this, you will appreciate a monitor with a low battery indicator/alarm. You'll need to remember to return your receiver to its docking station or switch batteries because you don't want your monitor to go out during the night. It will save you a lot of time and worry.

You can also look for products on large consumer sites like Amazon that have a good number of reviews. These are honest reviews from consumers who are familiar with the item. You are likely to find the whole spectrum of reviews on sites like these. For every person who loves a product, there will be someone who hates it. Don't focus on one sentence reviews, but look for helpful ones that provide real facts about the product. That will help you figure out if a monitor is good enough for you or if you should choose something else.

You might want a system that lets you visually monitor your child when you are not in the room.
